We have successfully completed the project

In the final phase of the project we published a brochure about the project and made a short documentary video about the project that is available here:

The most valuable achievement of this project is the creation of communication between Roma communities and a foundation for a long-term cooperation.

We wish to thank the partners Roma Association Anglunipe - Bodočnost Maribor, KUD Romi Berovo and The Rroma Social-Cultural Foundation "Ion Cioaba" for their participation in the project and to funders the European Cultural Foundation, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Municipality of Maribor and Municipality of Berovo that enabled this project to succeed.

Events of the project Export knowledge - Import art

On 15 April 2011 we conducted two workshops:

At 10:00 Kaval Making Workshop:
Kaval is a wooden shepherd flute with eight holes, one of the oldest instruments in Europe, rich in tone and technical possibilities. Macedonian kavals are typically made of a single piece of ash wood, which is very hardwood. But we used bamboo, which is also hardwood and it is good to hollow it out.

First we had to find right measure

Than we had to drill hole into the bamboo stick

Instructions from older member of KUD Romi Berovo

We did not get any tone out of it, but our mentors played it beautifully.

Tapan Playing Workshop at 14:00 was led by Nehru Demirovski and assistant Djafer Destanovski, who teached participants to play basic rhythms on this traditional wooden drum. Tapan is used as an accompanying instrument, especially in combination with zurla.

Explanation of basics

Mentors and students played together
At 19:00 Screening of a Roma film Romano Illo / Roma heart at Roma Cultural Association Anglunipe – Bodočnost Maribor

Than we presented our project to the slovenian and macedonian audience

Educational workshops on 13th April 2011

The goal of the project Export knowledge - Import art is to help the participants gain experience / knowledge in organizing festival activities. In return for this knowledge the participants will enrich Festival Romano Čhon 2011.

For this purpose, ZULK organized various training workshops.

Mira Muršič, specialized mentor / counselor for cultural and artistic programs, informed the participants about the importance of clear explanations, the structure of the lesson, continuous assessment of understanding and knowledge, the use of resources and the use of a discussion.

Mentors of Workshops, Djafer Destanovski, Ervin Destanovski and Nehru Demirovski applied their new knowledge during the Tapan Playing Workshop, where they taught the participants how to play this traditional drum, and during Kaval Making Workshop.

Minavera Destanovska, who is being trained as an organizer of festival activities within the project Export knowledge - Import art, observed which activities should be carried out before the event, and accompanied us in carrying out these activities and during the events themselves.

During the afternoon workshop we taught the two older participants how to use e-mail, send attachments, transform them and send them back to the original sender. We hope the newly acquired skills will facilitate our communication in relation to future projects.

We taught Minavera Destanovska how to create an attendance list, zoom and crop images, put them on a web page and create a presentation in Power Point.
